Tennessee Charter School Center Hosts Day on the Hill, Releases 2020 Impact Report

Public Charter Schools Promote Unique School Models and Academic Results

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Today the Tennessee Charter School Center (TCSC) released its 2020 Impact Report, which provides an overview of the Tennessee charter school movement and highlights ways charters are promoting excellence and innovation in K-12 education.

The report was officially released during TCSC’s Day on the Hill event where public charter school representatives from across the state exhibited their schools, displayed the progress that charter schools are making and the shared the potential they have to elevate education in Tennessee.  The morning's event drew in more than 60 state legislators--a record number for the TCSC Day on the Hill. Students had the opportunity to sit in on the Senate Floor Session and get a glimpse of the Tennessee Legislative Branch hard at work.

“The 2020 Impact Report illustrates how Tennessee’s charter school movement continues to evolve and improve, generating real results for students and communities,” CEO, Dr. Maya Bugg said.  “It was an honor to have these charter school ambassadors with us on the hill today sharing their personal testimonies with our state policymakers. We could not be more encouraged by the work these schools are doing to strengthen our K-12 education system. We are proud of the innovation fostered within Tennessee’s charter schools, and look forward to working with state leaders to ensure continued growth in the years ahead.”
