During our second annual Tennessee Charter Schools State Conference, the Tennessee Charter School Center will recognize the outstanding efforts and achievements of charter leaders, innovators and advocates that have made significant strides in elevating public education standards. The awards ceremony will take place during the gala on the evening of November 15, 2019  in Nashville, TN. Apply on your own or nominate someone you know across four categories. Rules and restrictions apply. ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY COB October 8th, 2019.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

The ideal nominee for Teacher of the Year inspires his/her students to learn through innovation in the classroom and use of creative and engaging techniques. He/She challenges students to do more, achieve more and be more. Further, he/she has earned the admiration of his/her students, is a source of encouragement, and cares about more than just a student’s performance in the classroom. He/She is concerned with the overall well being of the child.  Nominees for Teacher of the Year are leaders within their schools, taking initiative to better the school as a whole so that it may serve as a safe, nurturing environment for students.

Rules: Applicants must have served a minimum of 3 years as an educator in his or her current charter school. Applicants may be asked to submit evidence of student learning through test scores, standards-based gradebook, classroom artifacts, etc. When applying, please submit a resume and at least 2 student testimonials.

ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR

Nominees for Administrator of the Year have made worth while contributions to the operations of a charter school. The nominee has demonstrated outstanding educational administrative leadership and is committed to education quality, student achievement and professional growth. The nominee uses creativity and innovation in dealing with issues and problems that face public education and the charter school community.

Rules: Nominees must have served a minimum of three years in a leadership position at their current school, and have a documented history of improved student achievement and student academic growth. When applying, please submit a resume and at least 2 teacher and/or staff testimonials.

SCHOOL OF THE YEAR

School of the Year nominees are shown exemplary performing schools whose creativity and out-of-the-box efforts have not only made an impact on the education of its students, but has the potential to change the landscape of public education as a whole. The school leaders and staff are committed to providing the highest quality education and resources to their students. They are focused fully on the students achieving academic success as well as becoming valuable, influential members of society.  

Rules: Must have been in operation for a minimum of 5 years. Must not be in the bottom 15% of schools, and have an average TVAAS score of 3 or higher.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT OF THE YEAR

Given to a school, small group or individual recognize valuable service of an exceptional nature to a service organization, a school, community. The Service Project Award recognizes innovative experiences and projects designed to positively impact and inspire both educational professionals and students.  Service projects must be implemented by charter executives, teachers, staff or students. This award recognizes the group of faculty, students, and/or professionals who participated in the project.

Rules: The winner of this award will be determined through a Social Media vote! Nominees must fill out the form provided at the link below. The top projects will be featured on Social Media and the winner will be determined by the number of votes each project gets from followers!
